Since the Beginning of Covid, Townsville has had major Shortages Of Day Old Baby Chickens, Pullets and Point Of Lay Hens.
Like toilet paper, eggs in supermarkets have had disrupted supply and uncertainty.
This is partially due to some local egg suppliers closing down.
There is also a shortfall in baby chicken supply to grow up into egg laying adults.
So the end result is now everyone wants to have chooks in the back yards providing healthy fresh eggs.
So demand has gone up by 300%, Supply has gone down by about 25%, and now there are announcements about removing cage eggs from supermarkets which is increasing the demand further.
Our 3 phones lines literally run continuously all day with enquiries about chickens.
So please expect the following estimated delays:
Day Old to 4 week Chicks - 2-4 weeks
Pullets 4 week to point of lay - Not Available
Point Of Lay Hens - 6-12 weeks

We generally have more orders than chickens supplied, and do not get to supply some unpaid orders.
