Sour Crop describes a yeast infection of the crop (found at the base of the chickens neck and forms part of the esophagus).

Symptoms of Sour Crop are as follows:

  • Enlarged, hard crop
  • Bad breath
  • Off food and water

Can be fatal if not treated early

Prevention, management and Treatment:

  • Gentle massage of the crop to manually removed food.
  • Veterinary treatment such as anti fungal medication and antibiotics.
