Calcium Deficiency in Chickens

Calcium deficiency occurs when a bird is getting inadequate calcium intake from their diet.

Symptoms of Calcium Deficiency are as follows:

• Weakness
• Lameness
• Weak egg shells, or no egg shell
• Broken Bones

Prevention, management and Treatment:

• Ensure an appropriate complete and balanced commercial diet is being fed.
• Reduce scraps and treats to once a week
• Supplement diet with Shell grit or a liquid calcium supplement.
