Calcium Deficiency in Chickens
Calcium deficiency occurs when a bird is getting inadequate calcium intake from their diet.
Symptoms of Calcium Deficiency are as follows:
- Weakness
- Lameness
- Weak egg shells, or no egg shell
- Broken Bones
Prevention, management and Treatment:
- Ensure an appropriate complete and balanced commercial diet is being fed.
- Reduce scraps and treats to once a week
- Supplement diet with Shell grit or a liquid calcium supplement.
