Bumble Foot in Chickens
Bumble Foot is severe swelling of the foot caused by the bacteria Staphylococcus Auerus. The bacteria enters via a cut or ulcer and begins to infect the area.
Symptoms of Bumble Foot are as follows:
- Balding of scales on foot
- redness
- swelling
Prevention, management and Treatment:
- Removed affect bird from the flock
- Treat all injuries by cleaning daily with sterile saline, diluted betadine or antibiotic creams.
